Award-winning actress Roseanne Barr faced many hardships early in her Hollywood career, but getting pregnant at just 18 and then adopting her newborn baby was the worst ordeal.
Roseanne Barr became pregnant at 18 and planned to keep the baby. Since she was unmarried and no one else could care for her and the baby, she managed to get welfare to rent a room. It cost him $50 a month.
The room was full of bugs and unsavory people were queuing outside the building. With the actress’ family not supporting her, she had decided to move to Denver.
While in Denver, Roseanne Barr lived in a Salvation Army home for single mothers. 9 days after settling in town, she welcomed her daughter. The latter was born on May 16, 1971. Shortly after this birth, Roseanne Barr had to make the hardest decision of her life.

She had decided to entrust her little girl to a Jewish family for adoption.
The happy family who adopted their baby had been waiting 7 years to welcome a Jewish baby. Although it was an unbearable ordeal to leave her baby with another family, she knew she would see her again.
In a 1989 interview with People, Roseanne Barr revealed that when this family came to pick up the child, this family whispered in his ear:
“Remember. I’ll see you when you’re 18.”
NEW FAMILY AND MARRIAGE
Three years after the adoption, this Utah native married her first husband, Bill Pentland. The couple had three children: Jessica, Jake and Jennifer. They had a good life until 1988, when the family found themselves in the limelight thanks to the hit television series Roseanne, which aired on ABC.
Back then, the producer’s fame grew so much that it spilled over into her marriage and wreaked havoc. After trying to work out their differences, she and Pentland decided to end their union. After her divorce, Jessica, her eldest daughter, threw herself head over heels into drinking.
Roseanne Barr was very busy with her activities, which forced her to be away from her family. A situation that affected his relationship with his then 14-year-old daughter.
She revealed Jessica snuck out of the house. The young girl took her mother’s car at night and she didn’t notice. The actress has long blamed herself for her daughter’s reckless behavior, sought her help and enrolled the teen in treatment at the Westwood Center.
THE LIFE CHANGING PHONE CALL
Roseanne Barr’s life took a crucial turn when she received a call from the press telling her they had found the girl she had adopted several years earlier. Upon hearing the news, the shocked producer said:
“I left information that enabled her to find me when she was 21. I had even talked to my kids about adoption a year earlier because I knew she was 17 and she might try to find me.”
Because that newspaper knew where to find her child, named Brandi Brown, Roseanne Barr had hired a private investigator to help her find her.
They knew everything about her, including where she lived, her school, and who her adoptive parents were. Two days later doubts were no longer allowed. The 69-year-old actress called out her daughter, who was adopted years earlier by Denver residents Gail and Stanely Brown:
“I’m so happy to have found her. So happy she came home.”
A HARD REUNION
The following month, Roseane Barr and her first daughter were reunited at the Westwood Marquis Hotel and, according to the ‘Home on the Range’ star, the reunion was emotional but happy:
“We looked at each other and ran towards each other. We kissed and didn’t let go, we hugged and cried.”
The actress said she looked her child in the eyes while sobbing and told her how much she missed her. The Golden Globe winner also praised Gail and Stanley for raising Brandi and said they did a great job.
