The inevitable

Rides, thrills and churros. The very traditional and equally anticipated ride fair is making a comeback! You’ll find the grand classic mirror palaces and bumper cars for everyone, a boom for the bravest, the hot tub and trampolines for the youngest. You can also test the novelties of the edition, such as B. basketball or hoop games. The fair moved to the Champ de Mars until May 8th. During the holidays it is accessible Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday from 2pm to 1am and Sunday from 2pm to 11pm (except April 17 until 1am). Possibility to park on site or to get there by metro (line 1, Beaux-Arts stop) and by bus (lines 1 and 90, Champ de Mars stop; line 12, Jardin Vauban stop).

Closer to the animals. Have you ever heard of the crane, the binturong, the red coati? nope ? These are just a few of the hundred or so species that you can discover as a family at Lille Zoo on a trip around the world with our furry, feathered or four-legged friends. With a little spring novelty, Elliott, a young gibbon, has just arrived from a Swedish zoo! Appointments from Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, except Tuesday and from 10am to 7pm on weekends. Prices: Free for children under 5 and Lille & Moi pass holders; €4.50 for adults, €2.5 for 5-17 year olds. Family ticket parents + 2 children for 12 €.

Windows open to the countryside. Behind the large glass buildings of Lille Europe lies a small green corner, the Marcel Dhénin educational farm. In addition to discovering animals and plants on the farm, there are fun workshops for young children, such as feeding the animals, making butter and soap, and spinning wool. Goats, rabbits or even pigs await you at 14 rue Eugène Jacquet in Lille, Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and then from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: 30 p.m. The agriturismo is 400 meters from the Gare Lille Europe metro station (line 2). Admission is free. Registration for workshops only on weekdays on 03 20 55 16 12.

From drawing to fine art. If you want to awaken your artistic side, the Palace of Fine Arts is the place for you. During the holiday season, the museum organizes introductory drawing workshops. During the 1h15 sessions, a visual artist will give you “tips and tricks” to draw: a landscape, a portrait, an animal… The activity can be summed up in three words: come in, try, draw! No reservation is required, just buy the ticket (free for children under 12) at the entrance of the castle. Access to Beaux-Arts station by metro (line 1) and bus (line 1, 14, 18).

Learn while having fun. At the Lillenium shopping center, the Cité des enfants, you can educate your girls and boys in a fun way. The various activities are designed for children aged 2 to 12 and their parents. On the programme: discovery of the physical properties of water, miniature construction sites to be completed in teams, wooden games and an effects studio. During 1.5-hour sessions, your children will learn through play. No reservation is required. Count €15 for a child and an adult, €20 for three people. The shopping center is 500 m from the Porte des Postes station.

Walks through the city. The good weather shows the tip of its nose in Lille! So what could be better than a little family outing to appreciate? Start with a stroll along the banks of the Bois Blancs. On almost 2 kilometers you will discover one of the greenest districts of Lille. And throughout your excursion, you will walk along the Deûle. For the most motivated, take on the challenge of walking along the city walls. It’s an 11-mile (18-kilometer) loop trail where you mark the old city walls. Otherwise, take a quiet break in the botanical garden and its equatorial greenhouse between the gates of Arras and Douai (metro line 2). The greenhouse is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm and on Sunday from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
