IN PICTURES, IN PICTURES. Five ideas for family outings during spring break in Rouen

For the long spring break in 2022, the editors have selected five excursion ideas for all ages and tastes. On to the first week!

Here are five date nights for all ages and tastes, handpicked by the editors. On to the first week!

1. In the flesh

L’Aître Saint-Maclou invites the audience to reflect on the relationship of place to time, death and life. Far from sad, this family visit cheerfully explores the site’s ossuary past and the meaning of the fun sculptures that adorn it. The restoration campaign has revealed fascinating archaeological facts that have been lost over the centuries. A journey for adults and aspiring Indiana Jones ages 8 and up.

Wednesday 13th and 20th April at the Aître Saint-Maclou in Rouen. €6 / free under 12 years old.

2. The Mysteries of Mythology

alarm ! Precious objects disappear, old treasures reappear… Nothing goes right in the Historial and it takes all the brains of the young investigators (accompanied by an intermediary and without the parents) to solve the mysteries that punctuate the place. With the help of an accompanying booklet, the examination is solved without a doubt, in two ways – one for the 7 to 9 year olds in the morning and the other for the 10 to 12 year olds in the afternoon. A real little Da Vinci code to reform in the context of the life of Joan of Arc.

Thursday April 14th and 21st at the Historial Jeanne d’Arc in Rouen. €4

3. The Hyper Escape Game

More than a classic escape game, thanks to a virtual reality headset, here’s the enhanced version! In The Mystery of Blanchard, the detective team must find a treasure hidden by old Paul before an English buyer shows up. Round trips between the present and the year 1419 make the game for 3 to 6 players, ages 8+, an exciting odyssey through time, space and the walls of the place. Elementary!

Wednesday to Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Donjon de Rouen. €17.50.

4. Easter in the atrium

An egg hunt like no other at Rouen’s Mini-Cité des Sciences. In line with the theme of the season, the “Odyssey of Health” exhibition, children explore the hidden corners and corners of the place and discover the secrets of the body. Digestion, brain… Because learning, when rewarded with chocolate, is of course much more stimulating! And it really makes science a lot more… greedy.

Sunday 17 April at 2.30pm, 3.30pm or 4.30pm at the Atrium in Rouen. €8 / €4. With reservation

5. Toudou’s fabulous journey

Toudou, the all-white polar bear, drifts off on a piece of ice one night without knowing it. Desperate, he finds himself far away from his parents; A migrating killer whale takes him to Africa. From there, a great journey full of discoveries, songs and surprises will make the bear grow. A show about cosmopolitanism and ecology, directed by the company Jolis Cœurs, suitable for children from 3 years old for a 45-minute ride.

From April 10th to 17th at 11 am at the Theater A l’Ouest in Rouen. €12 / €10.
