It is now eleven years since Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès disappeared. The alleged perpetrator of five murders (of his wife and four children) disappeared without a trace in the wilderness in 2011.
But today his family believes that he is still alive. “Christine, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès’ sister, is convinced that he is alive and she is convinced that we do not know the reality of the technical and material findings. She wonders where her brother is,” he explains I Stephane Goldenstein, guest of The time of the crime and lawyer of the sister and mother of the wanted man.
Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is still wanted today. On June 21, 2021, police officers from the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence Against Individuals (OCRVP) were on duty in the small Grimaud cemetery between Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. These men whose primary mission is the hunt for the fugitiveswaited until nightfall to discreetly visit the site planted with cypresses and surmounted by an old windmill.
Research is still ongoing in the Var
Another mill in town, five kilometers from the shore, was long owned by Count Hubert Dupont de Ligonnès, a nuclear physics engineer who left his wife and three children when Xavier was only ten years old. Xavier Dupont de Ligonnes never stopped admiring this distant father who died in January 2011 and was buried in Lozère.
During this period, in 2011, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès was also there began practicing shooting regularly at a club in Nantes. With the .22 long rifle he inherited from his father. Weapon which he will equip with a silencer and which was certainly used to kill. And if Dupont de Ligonnès had decided to commit suicide here, in this corner where he loved to play as a child and where he still went for walks as an adult? Graves in Grimaud Cemetery that have recently been opened or damaged are being examined and searched, but the samples taken will reveal nothing.
It’s not the first time investigators have visited this region. Again, the suspect died after the crimes, April 15, 2011. We see him leaving the Formula 1 hotel in Roquebrune-sur-Argen. The CCTV cameras are filming this customer walking away in the facility’s parking lot. Only a week later, on the evening of April 21, did the gendarmes discover his Citroën C5 In the parking lot. He walked, or maybe someone was waiting for him…
