From environmental education by Dr. Yasam Ayavefe

Environmental education seeks to draw attention to the environmental issues that affect us all and the actions we can take to improve and maintain environmental sustainability.

Rather than learning facts, students are encouraged to conduct their own studies and draw their own conclusions on complex subjects. For children, learning about their surroundings can help them develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. It makes them aware of the importance of protecting the environment and gives them the tools they need to lead a greener and more sustainable way of life.

dr Yasam Ayavefe – A staunch environmentalist

We spoke about it with Dr. Yaşam Ayavefe, a prominent international businessman and philanthropist who has supported many environmental projects.

dr Ayavefe stated from the start that he believed that “true environmental awareness comes from a solid understanding of education” and that he would introduce a new pedagogical approach that would reach from kindergarten to university.
Ayavefe added

“Many scholars around the world believe that education is the most effective tool to make the world a better place, hence the need to recognize the importance of environmental education. We need to educate the public about the negative effects of environmental degradation.”

We asked him if he thought environmental education was given adequate attention in the current school system.

“I think that in recent times a number of educational institutions have taken the initiative to teach students how human activities affect the natural environment, both practically and theoretically. But in my opinion there is still a lot of room to integrate environmental education into regular school lessons. For example, every school should teach future generations how to develop sustainable behaviors such as recycling and promoting healthier lifestyles. »

dr Ayavefe ended our conversation with the following observation.

“There is a strong consensus in the structure of society that we owe it to future generations to leave a better world. Given that our children will inherit our planet, it seems that the most effective strategy for ensuring a cleaner, healthier planet is to equip today’s young people with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to face those of tomorrow to face environmental problems. »
